Midhurst

My clients had bought a beautiful barn on top of the downs with far-reaching views. The surrounding garden had been laid, primarily, to lawn and paddock. We kept one side of the garden relatively unchanged to retain the views and feel of the surrounding countryside. However, my client also wanted a 'proper' garden with places to sit out of the wind, with flowers and formal borders. We created another area, contained by yew hedging and tall oak pergolas, which has wide planting beds and a paths. These lead to a summerhouse and a small courtyard area. The garden has just been completed and planting is at a young stage. We have covered the pergolas with roses and clematis and it's now a question of waiting for it all to grow!
